Projects & Railway Telecommunications

  • Bakara scope included the Durban Resignalling Contract Site Offices, the Design and Equipping of the Central Traffic Control building, Site Security, Document Management and Track-occupation Management and construction of signalequipment rooms.
  • The largest part of the scope was the
    telecommunication Network. This included the Fibre-optic Cable Network, SCADA, the layout and equipping of the Central Traffic Control Centre, Access Control, Fire Detection and Alarms throughout the rail network.

Vacuum-on-Demand Toilets

  • Bakara represents Glova Rail, Denmark in Africa for their unique Vacuum-on-Demand Toilet system for trains.
  • Transnet Engineering awarded Bakara the
    contract to install these in the coaches built for Botswana Railways.
  • PRASA has accredited Bakara for the same product for the coaches on their longdistance passenger service, Shosholoza Meyl
